wound up and underway!

The new piece I’m making from Haruki Murakami’s “The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle” is in the works now!  I’m only about eight pages in so far (of six hundred and seven - !), and so I haven’t any idea whatsoever how big this crazy spiral will end up being, nor just what it will look like, but I am very excited about it, and it has really gotten me motivated to spend all kinds of time in my studio again.

Here are a few more photos of the piece in its earliest stages, including a shot that shows the center of the spiral in tiny (50% the original size) text, alongside a sample photocopy of the size the text at the very outer edge of the spiral will be when I get there (600% the original size), a juxtaposition that makes me want to work furiously, just because I am so, so curious how it is going to look in the end.  The increase in text size is very gradual - each page goes up 1% in size......I think it will be very cool.  We shall see!  Here is my original post on the idea for the piece for more background:  the wind-up bird chronicle (vortexes & inspiration cont’d.)
